About Zi
I was born in Brazil and grew up in a poor family of five children. As a child, I drew on anything I could find (including margins of school Books), never dreaming I would one day become an artist.
I took my first painting class at the age of 32. Four years later, I opened her own studio in Brazil and began teaching my unique style. Most of my pieces are in acrylic, but I also work in oil and mixed media. In 2003, I was awarded “The People’s Choice Award” at a public exhibition in Jundiaí, Brazil.
In 2010, I moved to the U.S. with my husband and two sons. My first U.S. exhibition was a year later entitled, “ Os Anjos Em Minha Vida” (The Angels in My Life).
I am an intense artist, I use my strong connection with the spiritual world to influence my artwork. I live in the physical world yet I relate to the spiritual world I sense and experience when I paint.
Statement
As an artist, my vision is to create works that call for the participation of the viewer to become involved with the art. My goal is to draw the audience into the art as ideas are expressed using different mediums along with exploring texture, color, lines, and movement.
My art is for anyone who believes in the transformation of the human being, the evolution of the human mind. I wish to reflect deepness and extreme intensity through the world of color. My art is about feelings expressed with no fear, no questions asked, no charges, no regrets, no measurements, no math, no science, no explanations, no need to be understood, only huge freedom of expression.
The feelings in my soul are exposed through colors described by my mind in whatever form they take. Abstract Art brings a world of thoughts and questions, both by the artist and the ones who observe it.
